Lhasa, Everest Base Camp and Kathmandu

Tibet, the roof of the world and the centre of Buddhist teachings in Asia, has captured the imagination of people as the ‘Shangri-la’. On this trip you will visit Lhasa, the heart of Tibet and on to the Mount Everest; the highest and the most majestic peak on earth. On the way, you will visit some of Tibet’s most sacred and fascinating sites that represent the vast and colorful nature of Tibetan life. The enormous, age-old Buddhist monasteries and towns, nomadic camps, diverse flora and fauna as well as the unparalleled Himalayan panorama will keep you thrilled all the time. The trip will conclude in Kathmandu, another enigmatic town in the Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 1/2 : Arrive Kathmandu and tour
Day 3: Fly to Lhasa (3650m)
Day 4/5: Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Barkhor square, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery
Day 6/9: Drive to Gyantse (3950m) 261 km via Yumdruk Tso(turquoise lake) – visit Khumbum, Palkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Dzong,  and drive to Shigatse (3900m) 90km – visit Tashi Lungpo monastery, drive to Shegar (4050m) 244km and drive to Rongbuk (5000m) 68km
Day 10: Explore Everest base camp & drive to Tingri (4390m) 65km
Day 11: Drive to Lhasa (3500m)
Day 12/14:  Fly to Kathmandu (1400m), tour of valley and trip concludes
