Makalu Base Camp Trek

Located in the eastern Himalayan region of Nepal, this trek leads into an area of rich Nepalese culture heritage, unmatched beauty and diverse flora and fauna. You will trek from the lowlands of Tumlingtar on the Arun River through one of the least frequented areas of Nepal, to the base camp of Makalu (8475m). You will trek following the beautiful Barun river valley in the Makalu Barun National Park, crossing Shipton pass at 4127 meter before arriving at Makalu Base Camp (5000m). Spectacular views of the south face of Makalu, Everest and Lhotse can be observed from here. Some of the world’s rarest bird species are found in Arun valley.

Itinerary

Day 1/2 : Arrive Kathmandu (1300m), tour of the valley
Day 3: Fly to Tumlingtar (460m) & trek to Khandbari (1040m)
Day 4:  Trek to Fururu (1900m)
Day 5: Trek to Num (1490m)
Day 6: Trek to Sedua (1460m)
Day 7: Trek to Tashi gaon (2070m)
Day 8: Trek to Kauma (3470m)
Day 9: Trek to Mumbuk (3570m)
Day 10: Trek to Nhe Kharka (3000m)
Day 11: Trek to Sherson (4615m)
Day 12/13: Trek to Makalu Base camp (5000m) and rest
Day 14/21:  Trek to Nhe Kharka (3000m) and through Mumbuk (3570m), Kauma (3470m), Tashi Gaon (2070m), Balung (760m), Pukuwa (550m), Bumling (370m) and to Tumlingtar (460m)
Day 22/23: Fly back to Kathmandu, trip conclude
